Hydrocephalus WALK 2009

We just finished our Hydrocephalus Association WALK 2009 event. Hooray!

Hooray it's over and hooray for such success! We raised over $19,000 and the donations are still coming in!! This year's event featured "The Jon Dansie Band," a local group with amazing talent! Jon Dansie's wife tutors a cute little wheelchaired gal who has hydrocephalus. Jon so willingly volunteered his band to kick off the day's festivities. "Crossing Columbia," another local group, also performed for the last hour or so of our event. Teressa Last Hulme, her husband, and a few other great musicians blew us away with their phenomenal musical talents! Google them . . . they're really fabulous! A few of my Jones' cousins wowed everyone with their face painting skillz. Our craft table was loads of fun and we also had a Boozle "Hydro" Bear making station. The Research Team from the University of Utah's neuroscience lab brought a gel brain for everyone to "shunt." (I created an obstruction in the ventricle by breaking off the shunt tubing inside the brain. Oops. I told them that shunts just don't work with me.) Most importantly, all of the parents were able to socialize with nurses and neurosurgeons in a fun environment while learning more about hydrocephalus and how it affects their family while raising money for the Hydrocephalus Association whose goal is to support and educate families affected by hydrocephalus, and to invest in hydrocephalus research. Visit www.hydroassoc.org for more details.

We had several photographers Saturday morning. I will post the link to their pictures from the day as they dump them all into our Picasa albums. Here's the first batch from Pete Hansen . . .
